Activity for kids: SJF Book Bingo

The names of the winners were drawn on January 22, 2021. This activity has ended.

Get your child reading over the holidays without making it feel like homework by getting them excited about SJF’s Book Bingo! All they need to do is fill in their Book Bingo sheet by reading a book in each assigned category and upload the completed sheet to be entered in a draw.

There is a version for Junior students and a version for Senior students.

How to play:

  • Download the SJF Junior or SJF Senior Book Bingo sheet below (Google doc) for your child.
  • Fill in the sheet with the books he/she read by writing the book’s title in the box.
  • Once the Bingo sheet is complete, upload a copy using our Google entry form (button below). Enter your child’s name, select their homeroom teacher and upload* the completed Bingo sheet.
Rules:
  1. DEADLINE: January 22, 2021 at 5 pm
  2. One entry per student.
  3. Only open to students of SJF Junior and SJF Senior.
  4. To qualify the entire sheet must be completed.
    • A long chapter book can qualify for more than 1 square. For example, Harry Potter could cover: a book made into a movie, by a female author, set in a school, part of a series, technically has both male and female main characters, takes place in another country, chapter book; BUT if using 1 book for all these squares, the whole book should be read.
    • The book should have more chapters than the number of squares filled in (i.e. cannot fill in 10 squares for a book with 6 chapters).
  5. Books selected should be appropriate to your child’s reading level.
    • This should not be difficult or stressful for them; the goal is FUN!
    • Your child does not have to read on their own. Younger children can fill in a square when reading with mom or dad, or via video chat with a family member.

What you can win?

There are 4 prizes to be won at each campus consisting of various gift cards to a book store. The winners will be selected based on a random draw of completed book bingo sheet submissions. Winners will be contacted via email included in their entry submission.

  1. Thank you for organizing this. Are students being asked to “fill in” every square? IE: Read 25 books in a month?
    Thank you or clarifying.
